You only need to get twenty out of the twenty four listed. So that gives you four cats that you don't have to get in order to get this achievement. But one is from the pet store (Cinder Kitten), one is from a Trading Card (Nightsaber Cub), one is from an old, extremely rare and expensive Trading Card (Spectral Tiger Cub), and one is LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE to get (Spectral Cub. and that makes four). So your choices are kind of limited.

The majority of these cats can be obtained via trading, and 7 can be purchased from vendors for 40s - 50g.

In response to Rossmallo's comment, I made an addon that plays Auriaya's death sound when your character dies. You can check it out on wowinterface, Crazy Cat Lady!. If you're going to be a Crazy Cat Lady, why not go all out?

Though Guardian Cub is bought from Blizzard Store it can be sold in game unlike the other Store pets. Bought today at AH for 4,5k. =)

Finally, the achievement that was meant for me! I will display this title w/ pride! Although now I'll never hear the end of it from my boyfriend but oh well. The only cat I see taking some effort to farm is the Black Tabby Cat (at least it used to be an incredibly low drop rate...took me eons although I never would commit to seriously spending huge blocks of time farming; not healthy) but with the introduction of the Black Market Auction House, that seems to have solved that matter quite nicely. Also, I agree, if you had to buy a pet, the Cinder Kitten was for charity and I did buy a Nightsaber Cub from the TCG through one of those websites people sell that type of thing on for an incredibly reasonable price which included shipping too ;-) Anyway, couldn't contain my joy when I saw this post even though I really didn't have much to add...great info already given and see all you other Crazy Cats out there soon enough.

Finished this achievement by surprise! I misread it at some point and though you needed *all* of the cats in order to get it... when I added #20 I was pleasantly surprised! :D Some of my characters are also in a guild called <Crazy Cat Lady>, guess that makes me double the crazy with double the cats!

This tittle is really good for a person that whose devote himself to animal welfare and square with their humanity. But the Spectral cub impossible to acquire and the other one unobtainable Spectral Tiger cub will be a problem. TCG is already trolling the amount and lets maximize item's avarage price. You can still buy the Spectral Tiger cub from Outland server in Auction House if you willing to pay 90k+ gold.

I was at 14/20 when I learned of this achievement. sweated out bigglesworth and the cheaper AH pets til I got to 16, then spammed trade offering to tip 1k to anyone who would let me learn the pet before trading it back. had the achievement within minutes :)

So if you don't wanna fork up actual money for guardian, or hundreds of thousands of gold for spectral/TCG pets, all is not lost. Given a little.. motivation.. plenty of people are willing to help! (You know, in exchange for, uh, gold.)

This might have been mentioned allready, but keep in mind that you don't have to OWN the pets to get this (or any similar) achievement (*hint* mr bigglesworth...)

It's enough if you "learn" the pets once. This means that you can sell the pets immediately after learning and, even better, you can "lend" pets from other players like i did with the feline familiar, which sells for ridiculous amounts on my server, if at all.

As several posts comment on, the list is now 25 cats. Comments suggesting that 20 of these are "free" are incorrect, you will have to buy one, (or two) to get the achieve.

Right now I'm at 16 of 25. The only remaining "free" cats I can get are "Feline Familiar" (a reward from Hallow's End at Halloween), Mr. Bigglesworth (a reward for completing "Raiding with Leashes", which I will comment on), and Xu Fu, Cub of Xuen.

That puts me at 19 out of 20 before I have to fork over virtual or real cash.

Spectral Tiger and Cinder Kitten are obtained through the Trading Card Game and must be bought on the ah.
Guardian Cub and Cinder Kitten can only be bought from the Blizzard store, and Guardian Cub has been retired so it will cost you big virtual coin if you can find it on the ah.
Spectral Cub was a one time reward for attending an event in China, so if you can find it on your ah, it will be a Chinese player gouging you for huge coin.
Sapphire Cub is crafted by Jewelcrafters and is fairly expensive on the ah.

Now for Mr. Bigglesworth. To get this cat you must complete Raiding with Leashes, and to complete that you must get the Viscidus Globule from Viscidus in AQ40. Unfortunately you must do two things to kill this boss: you need to stack 100 stacks of frost damage and you need to melee him in a certain phase. To do this when you don't have a frost attack, hunters must have a pet that does frost damage (Chimera I think), and all ranged need a melee weapon enchanted with Elemental Force (I think). It's not impossible but it's a pain in the butt and you are probably going to end up buying this pet off of ah for around 25k.

This technically means that most classes can only get to 18 "free" pets before buying the final two, probably for a minimum of $50,000 and a maximum of $100,000 virtual monies. Xu Fu is a major pain to get, but doable, and don't you dare miss the Halloween event.

So basically this is another test Blizz threw out there to see how many people are willing to BUY 10 achievement points. This is an adaptation of a model other games use called "In-App Purchases", meaning you have to Pay to Play. Expect to see lots more frustrating achieves like this in the future.

Just saw someone with this title today and was the first time I had seen it. Literally made me laugh out loud. Great title even if it's almost impossible to get. Apparently getting this acheivement takes the patience of someone who owns 40 cats :(

So far it appears that the new Widget the Departed and Cursed Birman don't count towards this achievement.

And doesn't look like the upcoming Raiding with Leashes 3 (BT, Hyjal, Sunwell) will have any kitties either.

Everyone keeps saying it's impossible to get. It really isn't. The vast majority of them are "free" with questing and time put in. I purchased the Cinder Kitten when it was for charity. The Feline Familiar took one Hallow's End event cycle to purchase. I purchased the Nightsaber Cub online for a VERY reasonable price (the cost of maybe 4 actual packs of cards). The Black Tabby seemed impossible to me for a long time but after reading the comments of where to farm for it (Murlocks along the southern shore, Alliance), I decided to make my try for it. After making 4 runs back and forth and spending about 15 minutes, she appeared. The Darkmoon Cub will be my last and will take about 1 1/4 fairs to complete. To all those thinking it's impossible, it's not. I did for a while but when I was within 5, I stopped complaining and made it happen.
The title will be great for my Worgen!

In order to get the achievement, do I have to obtain all 20 cats using one toon, or is it account wide? If I were to use an alliance alt to get one of the cats (the White Kitten, for example) would it count toward getting the achievement and title for my Belf?

Forget about this accomplishment since a few of these cats are only obtainable via TCG and one of the cats was sold in the Blizz store, but no longer. However, it is still accomplishable with a limitless amount of gold.

Sooo because I don't pet battle, I've been dragging my feet on this title. Right away, I decided I was going to buy the pets instead of battling for them or whatever. I'm on a mid-pop server, but the cheapest Spectral, Guardian, Nightsaber etc were all on high pops so I started baroning on servers that always listed those cheapest. It took a few weeks but I bought all three of those which would have left me three short of twenty -- but when I learned them, I got the achievement? I don't know what happened but I'm glad I don't have to pet battle lol.

Well, 2 costs real money, €10 each, if not on sale.
2 are not obtainable anymore.
2 are TCG pets.

So, in reality, 99.99% of players will need to obtain ALL of the rest, and will not be able to chose which to skip. Also, you'll have to do harder stuff like winning the celestial tournament 3 times to be able to buy Xu-Fu. None of my friends have won a tournament, most haven't even tried (including myself).

This a discusting attemp from Blizzard to try to make us BUY an achievement. It really makes me sick!

It would surprise me a lot if a large percentage of players actually have this achievement.

I have absolutely no idea why, but I have this achievement as of 05/19/15, and I clearly only have 19 cats check marked on the achievement. And I know that one of them was added AFTER I got the achievement, once I realized I could craft the Sapphire Cub on my jewelcrafter. So when I got the achieve, I only had 18 cats. I checked the comments here, and it seems that it has always required 20 cats? I thought maybe it only required 18 at some point since they have added cats over time, but apparently that is not true. Anyone else have this issue?

find somebody who has it and if possible lend it. Be nice and give after that the cat back. yes, you can get it that way.. it does not ask the keep all cats but to have all cats at one time. I, Did this several times with friends who were missing some cats. Note that you only need 20 of the 25 cats to get the achievement.

Weird... I already got the Spectral Tiger Cub from the trading post when I looked at my achievement," It isn't achievable that not green but greyed is not marked as green.

Pretty scummy that they decided to include so many TCG (Spectral Tiger Cub, Nightsaber Cub), In-Game Shop (Brightpaw, Cinder Kitten, Guardian Cub), and unobtainable promotional pets (Spectral Cub) as part of this achievement.

I know you only need 20 out of the 26 to complete the achievement, but it's still scummy.
