Proc rate is as follows.

- Brutal Talisman of the Shado-Pan Assault - 15% chance on landing harmful abilities and spells, and melee/ranged abilities and swings. 75 sec ICD.

With 15% proc chance, shouldn't take more than 10 sec to proc + 75 sec ICD = Total CD = 85 sec
85sec / 15sec proc duraction = 5.67
8800 str / 5.67 = 1,552 average strength

If you can proc it within 5 sec + 75sec ICD = Total CD = 80 sec
80sec / 15sec proc duraction = 5.33
8800 str / 5.33 = 1,651 average strength

1min 15 sec icd means it will be (somewhat) alignable with 1min/2min CDs

With the recent changes / hotfixes to the trinket PPM (I think this only applies to the ones that actually drop in Throne of Thunder)...

How does this trinket now compare? Max DPS.com and AskMrRobot are telling me that is is BIS. I am hesitant due to all the expertise as others have mentioned.

I'm at 3000 Valor and looking to spend on something. I currently have relic of xuen and darkmist vortex (raid finder, upgraded 1 time)

Anyone had any experience with this trinket?

Wasn't that excited when I got it cuz the internal cool down is long, however...
Seems like someone at Blizzard really has their math down.
After about 30min on a test dummy, pairing this with Spark of Zandalari trinket from ToT, the 10 stacks of spark procced near perfectly in sync with the proc from Brutal Talisman. Combined, they pop roughly every 80 seconds, sometimes a tad longer, which using the Warrior 4-piece Recklessness cool down, you have yourself a 12 second window of complete death and destruction! Total strength climbs to over 30k, and parry up to a staggering 31% (not bad for Prot).
If only they replaced Expertise with Crit I'd be a happy camper (Fury Warrior).
Also, since Spark pops after 10 stacks, and Brutal Talisman pops usually right at the start of the fight w/ a long cool down, I take the trinket off then on again before the pull to start the cool down, and then it always lines up with Spark proc.

In some ways it's an interesting trinket for a tank, given that most theorycraft-aware Strength tanks are extremely interested in expertise capping nowadays, but obtaining your expertise via a trinket comes with some inherent drawbacks.

A typical min-maxing tank is much more likely to swap between multiple trinkets - for threat/dps, for mitigation, or for stamina.

So if you use this trinket to expertise cap on a tank you're either preventing yourself from ever swapping it out or preventing yourself from being capped when you do swap it out.

So it is appealing to tanks, but it definitely comes at the price of versatility.

Hotfixed 4/10:

Brutal Talisman of the Shado-Pan Assault now grants a reduced bonus of 6908 to Strength when the effect is activated in PvP combat, down from 8800. The bonus remains unchanged when the effect is activated in PvE combat.

I'd take this trinket as Protection warrior anyday over the other tanking trinket - the mastery is okay'ish on the other one, but the dodge simply suck.

The expertise on this one is amazing - Nice to easily reach hardcap and the strenght proc goes well with Shield Barrier :D

Hotfixed (4/18/2013) - Brutal Talisman of the Shado-Pan Assault now grants a reduced bonus of 4400 to Strength, down from 8800 Strength, and the effect duration now lasts 30 seconds, up from 15 seconds when the effect is activated in PvP combat.

This is ranked as one of the best trinkets for dps warriors in tier 15. This includes heroic trinkets.
As an example Paragons dps warrior, Qixte, is still (at the time of writing this) using it even though his ilvl is around 543.

It is rather boring but that str proc is really insane, especially as fury where you are very burst dependent.

Great for PVP plate wearers. For extra DPS, roll a human so you don't have to use up a trinket space and get both damage trinkets.
