i can see this being very helpful against ragnaros (assuming he still knocks back people). person A is low on health. ragnaros pushes him back. Person A is about to die from fall damage! priest uses this and saves his life!

I see it very useful spell if used properly, but Im affraid of it being in hands of noobs. they shoul pull uf away from flags ("I want to take it!"), to a dangerous situations ("I will die, you will too!"), or even worse. And I think 32% of base mana is just too much for spell like this (I know what base mana is, dont try to be smart)

This spell could suck and be very misused a lot of the time. Imagine a spiteful player following you around as you try to cap flags etc. They now have the ability to stop you from doing anything. This will also stop spell casts effectively allowing priests to indirectly kill someone attempting to get a heal off. This spell has much negative potential. Tread lightly Blizzard.

I really hope they reevaluate that cooldown. 1.5 mins is going to make it almost worthless, it'll be kind of forgettable at that length. If Death Knights can do this to other people every 35 seconds I don't see why the friendly version shouldn't be the same.

It should at least go down to a minute if not 35-45 seconds.

On the first boss in Halls of Origination, I was told to jump down on the right hand side and pull the lever. When I did this, I was instantly yanked back up to the platform by my healer. I, of course, had no idea that he had done it, and assumed that it was part of the mechanics of the lever that threw me back up to keep DPSing.

Subsequent runs, however, make me miss this ability :(

Experimenting a bit in heroics, I found that a priest can Mind Control a mob or enemy player and then, targetting his or her Mind Controlled minion, Leap of Faith it, acting as a rudimentary Death Grip without the taunt component. While I haven't used this technique in PvP yet, it's extremely helpful for moving pesky casters to your tank in heroic groups (and it's also just really awesome).

Can we get a list of exceptions for this spell, if rangecheck passes the 1st but fails on the 2nd effect of this spell it will not work and give you a cooldown.

Best use of this spell i have made so far is in Halls of Origination. I use it to pull peeps who've finish pulling the lever during the Temple Guard Anhuur fight back up to the bridge where you fight him on. Saves them a lot of time and dmg from having to have both people run the long way back up the steps. I only wish there was something to reduce the CD on this spell.

Leap of Faith is great for Forgemaster in Grim Batol. When he pulls out the mace, pull the tank out of there. Even on regular, with his mace out, he'll hit for 25k. Great for Eredax, too. I always pull the tank into the safe zone for Shadow Gale.

Leap of Faith really is a great spell; Priests just need to look for opportunities to use it.

Also, tested this spell on a snared player (specifically, the roots the mobs before Isiset or whoever the life boss is in Halls of Origination) and it didn't pull them out.

Hah, I had to get that out of my system...

But based on the description, it seems like the most optimal way to use this spell is when the priest's bubble pops and would then cast leap of faith on his party member to use him as a living shield.

"After the target of your Leap of faith spell has been killed, his corpse will then be used as a shield which starts with 100 durability points. Each time you are hit by an enemy's ability, the corpse will absorb 100% of the damage, but also reducing the durability by one point for each hit landed. Once the corpse's durability reaches 0, it will be removed."

Priests would then be more popular for killing their teammates rather than healing them :)

Most LoF guides will have uses for the spell such as the following:

-Pulling people away from slimes in the Omnitron encounter.

-Pulling people out of Valiona’s breath.

-Pulling people out of the lava pillar during the Magmaw encounter.

Please don’t waste your cooldown on these mundane life-saving measures. You may get a thank-you from the person you saved and your raid leader, but your true potential as a LoF artist will be lost. Just follow my guide and you’ll be as skilled as me at using the spell in no time. While you’re reading, I’ll be over here waiting for Blizzard to implement my, “Lifegrip Ninja” title.

Lifegrip the Tank. They like that.
The first use for the spell is the most obvious. We all know that tanks are very flexible when it comes to raid mechanics and movement. They didn’t roll a tanking class to stand in one spot and stare at a monster’s crotch all day, so they really appreciate it if you give them a change of scenery by lifegripping them to whatever wall you happen to be facing at that current time. Don’t worry. If it’s a mobile boss, it will just follow them. This way the DPS gets to see the boss up close as it runs through their ranks, cleaving them. However, they will thank you for the chance to see the boss’ awesome model up close to really appreciate Blizzard’s textures. If they fall over it’s because they wanted to admire the floor tiles as well.
If the boss isn’t mobile, then you can count on the closest rogue or DK to tank. I haven’t really done any research on melee stats, but I’m sure it’s pretty much the same as tank stats. They’ll be fine, just throw a bubble on them and maybe a renew as well.

Lifegrip into an obvious AoE
You may have noticed that DPS tends to move around a lot. Sometimes they’re running from cleave mechanics, or they need to get in range of a mobile boss. You also may notice that some races don’t wear shoes. This includes tauren, draenei, worgen, and trolls. I don’t know about you, but as someone who has to constantly have my shoeleather cobbled due to running wear, it frustrates me to see them running with such mobility and freedom from shoe-related restrictions. They do not need pause to tie laces or re-attach Velcro. How unfair is that? I find it soothes my posterior related hurting to lifegrip them into obvious AoE mechanics.
“But how do I do this without standing in the AoE myself?” I hear you asking. Simple. Remember how I mentioned that DPS is constantly moving? This works in your favor. All you need to do is stand near an obvious AoE mechanic like a gravity well or a void zone and lifegrip away! The DPS is usually already mid-run and will be disoriented by the unexpected change of scenery. This usually lands them in the middle of a nice void zone where they will take rapid and now unavoidable damage. Their 50g repair bill makes me feel slightly better about having to buy new shoe leather. Slightly.

Lifegrip other healers mid-cast
With the new cataclysm healing mechanics, you may notice that most of the raid’s healers are pretty much constantly spamming their efficiency heals to keep people alive. As we all know, this is incredibly boring. I’m not sure what the Devs were thinking, but this is not a game where people can spam 3 buttons to play properly. There are days when I truly feel bad for mages because their incredibly complicated rotations make me feel ashamed as a healer pushing my 2 buttons all the time. I can understand why DPS complains in heroics as well. It’s very, very challenging to hit all their buttons and move out of obvious fight mechanics. That’s like asking people to do 2 things at once. Have you ever had your boss come up to you and ask you to two things for them? Holy meltdown! Humans were not meant to be able to withstand multitasking complexity of that high caliber!
I find that sometimes lifegripping other healers who are midcast is like that ultimate, “Screw you!” to Blizzard encounter design. I do it on behalf of the DPS who have to carry the brunt of the raids/heroics. Take that, healers!

Lava is your friend
Most of blackwing descent and certain parts of bastion of twilight have pools of lava surrounding boss stages. What’s not to love about lava? It’s warm. It’s orange. It looks like boppin’ orange Hi*C. I love jumping in lava so much that I want to spread its awesomeness around as much as possible. That means if I get shadow nova’d off Halfus’ stage, if I’m in a good mood I might bring the closest player next to me down with me. Grab your floaties and funnoodles! It’s a pool party!

Elevators? YESSSSS!
When I see elevators in raids and dungeons, I cheer. Clearly Blizzard has nailed the fact that more raid dungeons need long, deadly elevators in the middle of them. What else can I say about that?
The fun thing about elevators is that as long as you’re in the right position, if someone is a little late and doesn’t make it to the mobile platform, you can do them the favor of lifegripping them off the edge. Eventually they will catch up to the elevator or the ground. Though try to do this on classes other than mages or priests. They’re currently bugged in such a way that they can survive long falls. Necessary nerf inc.

#$%^&*!s with runspeed buffs
When I’m running back from a wipe I prefer to see everyone running at the same speed so I can win the race back to the buff spot and receive my prize of being able to alt-tab before we pull again. Some classes have runspeed buffs. Druids, rogues, paladins, etc. will all sprint ahead of you like the jerks they are so they can get to the spot, throw up their buff, and alt-tab to check their online banking. Rude.
This is obviously the perfect situation to use lifegrip. If you see someone sprinting ahead of you, wait until they’re nearly out of range and then pull them right back. By then their sprint buff will have worn off and they’ll be knocked down a couple pegs back to where they belong. Make sure you mute them on ventrilo ahead of time. Global mute, if you want.

Now that we’ve gotten the major uses out of the way, here are a few quick tips for priests to stay on their toes:

-You CAN lifegrip while mid-air! Share the gift of fall damage!

-Try to lifegrip death knights as much as humanly possible. If your lifegrip is off CD, you are doing it wrong because you should have already lifegripped a death knight.

-If you’re going to look bad to the raid leader because you failed at getting to a collapse spot for AoE heals (like during Chimaeron) you can always make yourself look better by lifegripping someone else to be standing there with you. That way when you get called on it you can be all, “But this death knight was standing out here, I thought this was where we were supposed to stand!”

-Lifegrip actually takes friendly targets out of stealth as well. If you have rogues or mages in your group that try to avoid wipes by being jerks and running away to invis, etc. leaving everyone else with repair bills and themselves with the heroism debuff, just grab them on your way to dying. Wiping with your guild builds character and repair bills, everyone should do it equally. WoW is an equal opportunity raiding environment.

Several classes have healing spells for different situations. They can heal AOE, they can heal bursty damage.

With this spell under their belts, though, priests can in fact heal stupid.

Twice now I have pulled a flag carrier through our flag for a cap and had the flag NOT be capped for almost 5 seconds. It's almost like pulling them prevents a cap, like a hidden debuff. It's not lag, the FCs in both cases noticed that a cap didn't occur right away.

Anyone else notice this? I'm going to do more testing...it seems a bit lame that you can't pull a embattled FC in to the flag for a cap. =\

A great way to kill Level 70s you don't like is to join a Level 70 raid like the Black Temple and when the group is fully buffed up and ready to kill a boss, you suddenly run in behind the boss, LoF a level 70 and shadowmeld!
You may get hated, you may even get kicked, but you'll have the satisfaction of making one Level 70 even poorer!
And you can repeat this every 2 minutes whilst the raid is raging at you...

This is very useful for grabbing flags/towers in PvP. If you stand back, you can Grip them away from it and grab it for yourself. Try to avoid using this on pallies, though, because if they're smart they'll BoP you.

You should be able to use this out of line of sight. Then the name of the spell would make some sense, since faith is believing without seeing. Priests totally have enough faith to cause someone to leap to them without them seeing them =).

Careful when using this during the Venoxis fight in ZG... in fact lol it's best if you just don't use it at all. I just used it to attempt saving the tank from poison and apparently he turned into a flying corpse moving towards me at a high rate of speed. Leap of faith = instant one shot kill. I think he got upset.

My guild uses this at the start of the Majordomo fight in FL. Everyone but tanks stacks. Tank pulls Majordomo. Priest lifegrips tank into the stack. One thing to watch out for: lifegrip rotates the tank 180 degrees, but his camera angle does not change, so tank must be instructed to turn immediately to face Majordomo again.

This could be useful for dropping stacks during the Shannox fight in FL. If your Riplimb tank is not fast enough to run 40 yards while the spear is in the air, just lifegrip him to the boss to easily drop stacks from both tanks.

Use Cases Guide

PvP
The spell is extremely useful on capture-the-flag BGs

You can mount up and stay ahead of the flagcarrier as he runs to your base. Enemies will ignore you and concentrate on the flagcarrier. When he gets surrounded, pull him out.
While defending the enemy flag on your base, stand on the flag spawn point, so you can drag the flagcarrier to the spawnpoint the moment your flag is returned (enemies love to impair flagcarrier movement at this moment, deathgrip him, surrount the spawn with RoF, etc)
While defending the enemy flag on your base, you can also stand at the higher ground to drag the flagcarrier out of the crowd and buy time. However i would not recommend doing it, because it also buys time for enemy to recapture YOUR flag.
You can capture a well-defended enemy flag by approaching from the (usually undefended) higher ground. Your partner jumps down, gets the flag, you pull him back and run away.

Note: pulling to the higher ground can fail sometimes: the target will hit the wall and fall down. Especially if the target doesn't expect this.

PvE

Avoid using it on unexpecting targets minding their own business in the raid combat. Meaning, don't actually pull people out of the fire — you'll make the situation even worse by disorienting target.
Instead, feel free to actually save lifes and/or tons of time (and time=dps) — save people from falling, knockbacks, alakir's winds, help cutting looong distances and run away from various blind dragons.
Use this to save a disconnected player from deadly raid mechanics

Fun

You can pull the people over gaps in Grim Batol — they will !@#$ bricks.
Campfire, levitate, pull on the campfire
Pull a person who runs somewhere while standing back to a pit — stupid death. However, people will be very angry at you, so think twice.

Alternatively, wait just a moment longer and Voila! one fast moving corpse.

Perhaps more usefully, I was saved today by a very quick-thinking priest in EotS. As I was being punted over the edge (near the flag) for the Nth time this week, the priest life-gripped me back to terra firma. If you're quick enough, it's the perfect comeback to the potentially crowd-destroying Shaman knockback.

Its reach is enough to pull someone from ground level up to zeppelin in one go. How would I know this? Um... Let's say, I like when people go afk while in party with me!
Also there are some cacti on the right side of pvp building in Orgri (facing the building itself). You can get behind them, unless you're tauren, but you can't get out. And you can pull people in there too, though, in my experience, noone really appreciates the opportunity to look at cacti from up close :(

Oh and lastly, you can pull people through DS entrance. While you can "kick" your guildies or friends that way, it feels really great to teleport out afk-people in LFR on Siege.
