Is Bloodthirst affected by +Spell crit or +healing items and effects?

And if so, what's the % coefficient for +healing gear?
(Like, how much +healing do you need to get bloodthirst to heal you for 1 more health)

It's difficult to spike the damage for Bloodthirst. Changing the weapon usually will not do as much good as piling on +strength items. This is because it's damage is completely dependent upon your attack power.

And because it's damage is independent of your weapon it just so happens to deal awesome damage even if you're disarmed. Maintain your unarmed in order to get maximum effect.

Eh ok, besides just being an instant attack with not bad damage the healing effect is a nice bonus to it, but the thing I'm wondering about is if healing gear can increase this effect such as enchants and paladin plate armor with healing bonuses. If so, then this could actually be very useful since it doesn't take much to double the normal amount healed.

(Related to WLK version of the ability, Bloodthirst (WLK)) (It's all subject to change I suppose...)
The new way the heal will work will make it only have one rank, considering that's the only difference ranks had anyway.

Love the fact it's percentage now instead of a fixed value, although perhaps the heal should be lowered a bit, I don't know how damage will be in the comming expansion but still seems a bit too much health to recover every 6 seconds (assuming you use it every possible cooldown).

Assuming someone has say, 5k health

Here is a "real world" situation. On live 2.4.3 TBC I do dailies in S3/S4 gear, sometimes as fury. That gives me around 13.5k HP, close to 400 resil, and I still have decent damage stats. Mobs hit me for about 100 to 200 damage. With TBC Blood Craze and the tiny amount of heals I get with the current TBC Bloodthirst I can go without eating or bandaging for maybe 5 minutes.

TBC Bloodthirst currently gives 150 HP per 6 seconds (assuming we get 5 swings in, etc), but with WLK Bloodthirst I would get 13500/100*7.5 =1012.5 HP per 6 seconds. That's almost 7 times better. Man, that would let fury warriors have a ridiculously small downtime.

(Also I know that most fury warriors will skip Blood Craze for any serious PvE, but its worth noting that it will be buffed to double of what it currently does in BC, WLK Blood Craze. It will still be useless for PvE, but twice as good for farming and PvP)

Thanks for putting into perspective(I dont have a high level warrior myself, so I dont know all the 'in's and outs'), but I think the point still stands that nobody would be purely spamming bloodthirst either in a PVP situation or in raids, in which I assume that you'd need to keep rampage up, move around, etc.
Though, I could be wrong.

...On a sidenote, I need to level up my warrior! :)

So, did this use to be 1.5% per hit? That does sound pretty high. 0.6% is still pretty useful. It's a lot more useful than what it used to be.

Anyone know how useful that glyph is (the one that increases the healing from BT by 20%). We'd need a few numbers on the healing received by some warriors.

from what i can see, 0,6% it' pretty pathetic..
with 14204 (brutal/t6 gear + commanding shout) i'm healing 85hp per hit.. 425 health with 5 attacks...

it's a bit higher than the old rank3 version, that was healing for 75hp. nothing special.

Bloodthirst is great for lvling (especially when using dual wield - you have lot of rage to use), because it means extra damage + healing (= saving time from eating). Normally i used to kill 3-5 mobs (like not at once) on my lvl without eating.

But i find it useless for pvp - healing effect isnt high enough to keep you alive even second longer.

Any leveling warrior should definitely invest in the Glyph of Bloodthirst.

With the new changes to Bloodthirst (1% heal, 3 charges), it works out to be 6% healing per 5 seconds providing you're using it on cooldown, and you get the full 3 hits on a mob.

It's usefulness doesn't even need explaining.

Anyone know if this shares cooldown with mortal strike? If not, after patch 3.1 maybe getting both with 2X 1h axes (for extra critt) will be cool. u loose rampage (5% critt for whole party) and bloodsurge (20% chance on some hits to make slam instant), but gain an extra instant (with an effect), 5% critt from poleaxe spec (makes up for rampage, at least for yourself), trauma and taste of blood + imp overpwr.

Being changed in Patch 3.1.3:

Bloodthirst: Cooldown reduced from 5 seconds to 4 seconds, and rage cost reduced from 30 rage to 20 rage.

This was aimed as a buff to Fury Warriors' DPS, Ghostcrawler believs that the spec's DPS was falling behind.

Not sure if it is just me, but I've noticed Bloodthirst's heal has been critting far more often, sometimes all 3 heals critting within seconds. My gear has not changed since 3.2 hit which is why I'm suspicious.

I am curious if we will see this ability in some obscure tanking builds once Cata hits. With a fast weapon, this ability could provide 6% healing every 4 seconds (glyphed). That's around 3k healing on a well-geared tank, not too shabby indeed.

Ironically in cataclysm this ability deals less damage than heroic strike (0.6 * AP), which is supposedly our 'extra damage for extra rage' ability.

I'm curious as to why the reduction in healing? The CD has only gone down by 25% but the healing has gone down by 50%. Wars couldn't solo much before, compared to other tanks, now it is going to be even harder.

IMO Bloodthirst is the best levelling specification for new players/characters from level 1 (especially for those who does not have heirloom weapons), as it is not directly affected by your weapon damage. You may not have decent weapons all the time as you levelling, but you can always benefit from the AP boost when upgrading all your other equipments. Hence, Bloodthirst can provide you a stable-increasing dmg output throughout your levelling.

I'm spamming this skill in my pve rotation. Since most of your proc (Battle Trance, Bloodsurge) come from this ability, you should always, from my point of view, use it when the cd is done. It helps you not die, and saves a bit of healer's mana.

My rotation is:
1.- Colossus Smash
2.- (3 times)
3.- Bloodthirst -> Colossus Smash -> (go to 2.)

If your Bloodsurge hasn't proc, you can use the GCD to cast Battle Shout, Commanding Shout, Demoralizing Shout, Sunder Armor (+) or Whirlwind (Multiples adds).

Existing healing:

Base = 0.5% x 3 hits = 1.5%
Glyph of Bloody Healing = 40%
Field Dressing = 20% self + 6% all

= 0.5% * 3 * 1.40 * 1.20 * 1.06

= 2.6712%

per cast.

no its still 45% i beleive as of 4/21/06.

I dont understand why more warriors arent fury, I switched to arms for mortal strike and I found that bloodthirst takes my interest much more. This with 3% life gain talent and flurry give most pvpers a hard time taking you.

This is an awesome ability for orcs!
orcs have the ability blood fury, which increases attack power by 25%. And becuase blood thirst adds 45% of ur total attack power to ur attack you will lay out some amazingly awesome dmg!

This ability is awsome for duel wielding warriors!

since duel wielding normally does less damage than using a 2h, boost your AP as much a u can, and use this whenever u get the chance.

Best case senario: you just got critted and you got the healing buff on you and the damage buff, you crit with this and get the speed buff,you'll be healed quickly, and do extra damage.

when i was 42 and i got about 400ap (not too bad) it only did about 180ish thou as lvl inc it also strenghtens now with say 2k ap i deal 950+ and in posibly big party about 16-700.tot to mention the healing

+healing will not affect how much healing this does. HOWEVER, there is one thing that will. If you're fortunate enough to be a fury warrior in Kara (not entirely probable), then on Netherspite, if you are in the green beam, then the healing you do to yourself WILL be boosted, by quite a bit actually. so have fun with this ONE time in the entire game you'll be doing any noteworthy amount of healing via this talent.

Gathered up some healing items for testing on my warrior. Heal was still unchanged at 10 healing with around +50 Healing Spells. The fact that it's physical probably prevents this from being modified by gear.

Edit: Bloodthirst heals can crit, but since warriors don't get spell crit from Int, the only way to see this is with raw spell crit. World buffs are probably the best source for this. It increases the heal by 50%.

What is considered melee attacks?
-auto attack
-MS/BT/Slam/WW
-rend? hamstring?
-Shield Slam/Shield bash/pummel?
-revenge/OP?
-Charge? Intercept? maybe not melee but it close up to melee....intercept even do damage

All of the above? or only ones that do damage? or that requires weapon?

my concern is how to use all charges, if I use 2 handed OR 1h and shield. if I BT again within the timeframe, that BT also considered attack that will heal, right?
