Looks like a crazy AoE damage spell for arcane mages in MoP. Admittedly arcane AoE is underwhelming so this would be a welcome addition to the arcane arsenal.

I do not personally raid or do dungeons, I usually go to lower level zones like Icecrown for dailies, and Nether Tempest is great for pulling very large packs of mobs. I love going to that Vykrul area behind the Death Knight place and just spamming it all over the place. The packs of humanoids down below where the dragonhawks are for that one Alliance daily is really fun too. Great for farming cloth.

Can someone provide more detail on this bomb?

I'm assuming it ticks over 12seconds, and not just one explosion at the end. If they are ticks, at what increments? Every 2 seconds?

I couldn't and still cannot find this spell in my spellbook. Anyone know where it is?

EDIT: I am sooo dumb! I thought it was a core ability, but it turns out it is a talent at level 75.

Please confirm you can put this on more than two targets at the same time. I know I can do three on Living Bomb and I know I can do two of nether Tempest on two target at the same time, but like to know what is the most target you can put this on.

Here's a friendly tip about this spell. It does interact with shatter, but not like most of our spells (because it's a dot). It will gain the bonus crit from shatter only if it is applied after a freeze effect (frost nova, deep freeze, water elemental's freeze). That is to say, it'll snapshot that shatter effect much like it would snapshot a haste or intellect buff on yourself.

Of all three mage bombs, Nether Tempest seems the most versatile whilst levelling. This claim is of course arguable. If discussed together, the bombs cannot be distinguished by damage (to some extent, but only in the matter of hundreds at 75, and is probably insignificant to respec for). They can however by most other factors. In bold is whatever favors one bomb over the others for levelling.

Nether Tempest: instant cast, 12sec dot, 50% 'cleave', no cooldown, regular 1.5sec GCD, no target limit.
Living Bomb: instant cast, 11sec dot, 50% AoE on death, no cooldown, 1sec GCD, 3 target limit.
Frost Bomb: 1.5sec cast, 4sec explosion, no extra damage, 10sec cd, regular GCD, max damage-to-targets limit.

In questing, it's undisputed either of the dots is preferred because they are excellent for pulling compared to an unbuffed Ice Lance. The major differences between Nether and Living is the target limit for Living Bomb, and the longer GCD and cleave damage for Tempest. In a quickly dying group, Living Bomb should provide the top dps, but the triple target limit does not allow a mass pull of +4 targets, and in most areas this is very easy. Once the targets reach each other, the Arcane Blasts from target to target shred them apart and the pack dies simultaneously, lowering the potential of Living Bomb even more.

In dungeons, all three have some merit. If every pull allows one cast of Frost Bomb allowing you to contribute with one explosion on Shattered targets it is preferable over the dots. The discussion between the dots is similar as during questing, but Living Bomb can be considered slightly better because Tempesting +4 targets in a thrash pack is probably redundant as they die shortly thereafter.

As you level higher and get more spellpower, Living Bomb might surpass Tempest on damage more significantly.

Summary:

Questing: Nether Tempest >> Living Bomb >>>> Frost Bomb.
Dungeons: Living Bomb > Frost Bomb > Nether Tempest.

Bomb of choice overall: Nether Tempest. If you fancy, you can respec to Living Bomb when you enter a dungeon if you don't mind the spend the few silver.

At WoD Beta:

Is it me or is Nether Tempest hitting the main target twice? When it ticks, it triggers the AoE 'missile' which then hits the one w/ NT on. I wonder if this is intended.
Well, I ain't complainin'. Still one of the coolest-looking spells imo!

I'm wondering if the fact it ticks every second (while living bombs ticks slower), it increases the chance of getting a brain freeze effect.
